About Me
Laurel Ladzinski
Laurel Ladzinski studied at Colorado State University, majoring in Theatre Technology and Design with a concentration in Lighting Design and a minor in both Music and Creative Writing. She has contributed to several shows at CSU, including orchestral performances, theatrical performances, and dance performances. Her experience in the electrics shop enabled her to start getting involved with her local theatres, where she has excelled as a leader and point of contact for electrics on several occasions.
As an Electrics Lead Operator at Lincoln Center, she has helped as a spotlight operator for touring shows such as Annie and Come From Away, props for Book of Mormon, and a knowledgeable stagehand for Waitress, On Your Feet, and Legally Blonde. She has worked several Candlelight Dinner Theatre shows as their Master Electrician, such as Always Patsy Cline, Crazy For You, and Secret Garden. She has also jumped in as an electrician/lighting designer for Northglenn Parsons Theatre and opened Madagascar Jr, Shrek Jr, and James and the Giant Peach Jr. At The Rialto Theatre, she operates primarily as a lighting designer for recitals, dance productions, and concerts.

She has toured Colorado with a local Denver dance company called Zikr twice in 2024, visiting different cities in Colorado who may not have the best access to the arts. With inspiration to improve her outreach in theatre, she has taken up a seat on the Theatre and Multimedia Advisory Council to improve opportunities for Poudre School District students who may not have the means to attend college. Her vision is to create internship opportunities for middle and high school students to see what the world of production has to offer.

Laurel is constantly looking to learn, and has recently taken up learning the grandMA2 through an e-learning course as well as getting employed at Washington's and the Armory in Fort Collins to learn more about that system. She has started operating cameras and video streaming at the Rialto Theatre and has learned basic audio functions at the Lincoln Center. If a job needs to be filled, Laurel will do it.

Her lighting designs have won her not only regional recognition in Region 7 of KCACTF for two different designs, but she placed for Nationals in 2023 for her Spring Awakening lighting design. She has also worked with other hardworking interns at the Lighting Design International Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada and other lighting designers at the Longs Peak Scottish-Irish Festival in Estes, Colorado.

Aside from her enthusiastic participation in the theatre department, Laurel took up both creative writing and music in her academic studies. She enjoys hiking, travel, poetry, songwriting, photography, and connecting with other human beings.

Laurel has graduated from Colorado State University in the Spring of 2023 and has been working with her local theatres and dance academies, but is excited to see where her work will take her next.
